BURNT

WOO Publication - Spring 2024 Issue

WOO Publication’s Spring 2024 issue, BURNT, looks to inflame all wounds through a bitter-sweet collection of fiery artworks from Emily Carr University’s students, alumni, and faculty. BURNT is the overcooked partner publication to WOO’s fall 2023 issue, Tender. While Tender is an ode to the soft and sensitive, BURNT is a tribute to the harsh and hidden matters, exploring themes of passion, bitterness, strangeness, jealousy, and loudness. BURNT is a space for anger, as well as, a space for healing.

Our team works incredibly hard to make WOO Publication happen each semester. Through designing, editing, writing, photographing, filming, and printing, our design, media, and editorial teams put countless hours into creating the knockout publication you’re currently holding.

Enjoy, and remember to stop, drop, and roll.

Tender

Fall 2023 Issue - WOO Publication

WOO Publication’s Fall 2023 Issue, Tender, is an ode to the soft and sensitive, the gut-wrenching, and the melancholic. Tenderness is equal parts sadness and sweetness, and indulgently, does not require you to choose between the two. In our relationships to each other and to the world around us, tenderness can manifest itself in the need to take care of, to hold onto.

Inspired by themes of ephemera, we wanted Tender to be a publication that would be handled with care, each issue coming as a sealed package filled with various keepsakes. The packaged publication includes a Tender Thoughts pamphlet, featuring content from our WOO Publication Instagram, and the things to hold onto zine, both by Emily Xie, Graciella Rosary, and Siri Gusdal. It also features the reminders to myself, bleed, body zine by Abi Simatupang and Eunsong Kim, and the WOO Tender Mixtape poster by Natasha Kowo and Claudia Goulet-Blais. Additionally, each package includes a vintage postcard and film slide, stickers by Kelly Hardi and Malvika Garlyal, and a bookmark by Hana Mitchell, Jalyse Puk, Kyla Dooley, and Parumveer Walia.

We would like to thank our team that spent countless hours designing, editing, writing, photographing, filming, and printing for WOO Publication, as well as all the students, alumni, and faculty that submitted work and support us across all our platforms.

Thank you and please handle with care,

Charlie Mahoney-Volk, Isaac Hatfield, Kelly Hardi, Sodam Hong
